Our philosophy

A thoughtful, balanced approach to early learning. We believe children learn best in environments where they feel safe, supported, and encouraged to explore. Our approach draws from both Montessori and Reggio Emilia philosophies, creating a balance of structure and creativity. Children are given the opportunity to think independently, make choices, and engage with their environment in meaningful ways. We focus on the whole child—supporting cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development through experiences that are both purposeful and engaging.

At Summerhill, we believe that each child deserves a nurturing and stimulating environment where self-esteem is protected, confidence in ability is built and opportunities for exploration and self-discovery are abundant.

Our approach draws from both Reggio Emilia and Montessori philosophies, creating a thoughtful balance of structure, exploration, and creativity. We focus on the whole child—supporting cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development in ways that feel natural and engaging.

Every child is unique. Our programs are designed to recognize individual strengths, interests, and pace, giving each child the space and support to grow with confidence.

We place value on the process of learning—not just the outcome. By encouraging curiosity, effort, and exploration, children experience a genuine sense of accomplishment without pressure—building confidence, pride, and a lasting love of learning.

Our philosophy
At Summerhill, we see play as the foundation of how children learn and grow.
Through thoughtfully planned, age-appropriate experiences, our educators create opportunities for children to explore, imagine, and discover—building the physical, cognitive, and social skills that support lifelong learning.

Weekly activities are designed around each child’s individual needs and interests. This approach creates an environment where children are encouraged to think creatively, solve problems, make decisions, and explore new ideas through hands-on experience.

Group learning is an important part of our program. It gives children the opportunity to interact with both peers and educators in a structured, supportive setting.

Through these group experiences, children begin to develop essential life skills such as sharing, cooperating, and compromising—while building the confidence they need for future success.

What our parents say?

“What we appreciate most is how personal everything feels. Liam isn’t just one of many—he’s truly known by his teachers. The neighbourhood setting creates a sense of comfort and familiarity, and the relationships built there are genuine. Communication is strong, and we always feel connected to his day and his progress. It’s been a really positive experience for our whole family.”

“Summerhill is a place we truly trust. From the moment we first visited, it felt warm, personal, and very different from the larger centres we had seen in more commercial settings. Being in a neighbourhood environment made the transition so much easier for Ethan—it didn’t feel overwhelming or unfamiliar. The educators took the time to get to know him, and we always feel confident that he’s cared for, supported, and genuinely happy there.”

Tommy A.

“We’ve seen such a difference in Ava since starting at Summerhill. She’s more confident, more independent, and excited to go each day. The setting really stood out to us—it’s calm, welcoming, and feels like a natural extension of home rather than a busy, concrete facility. The structure of the day and the care from the educators have made a huge impact on her growth.”
